Just Another Day

Not too much to share today. Had to turn in my final project for a class, and came home to relax with the dogs. Anxiously awaiting the arrival of my beautiful new camera! It should get here tomorrow! So excited!

Relaxing Day with Friends

Confession:
I have the most amazing husband in the world. With hardly any convincing necessary, Nick agreed to let me buy a new camera: the amazing Canon s90. I'm sooo excited! It should be here sometime next week.

So to thank him, I decided to go see the movie he wanted to go see-Iron Man 2. It wasn't so bad, because we decided to grab some lunch at California Pizza Kitchen with a couple of friends. After enjoying the meal, we went to the movie. And that's about it. We came home, relaxed, watched some bad TV and called it a night. :)

Planning a Getaway

So yesterday evening I found out that the guys are planning a little getaway for us in a few weeks. Since a great career opportunity has presented itself for Nick and a couple of friends, it is possible that we will all be moving to the San Francisco Bay area in just a few short months. Needless to say, the wives and soon-to-be wives are a little hesitant about yet another move in such a short time. So to help sweeten the deal, the guys want to take us to Post Ranch Inn, a nice little retreat in the gorgeous area of Big Sur, California. It's about two and a half hours south of SF, and offers secluded cottages overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It's absolutely breathtaking, and I can't wait to go!

My new love

Today I was looking through some old pictures, thinking about making new photo books, when I decided I was ready to get a new camera. Granted, I love my camera. It's a Casio Exilim and I've had it for about 4 years. It was a sweet gift from Nick a long time ago. But while it's great for taking every day snapshots, it doesn't pick up great detail when shooting landscapes, and it really suffers in low light situations. So after a couple hours researching online, I fell in love with this little beauty.

Not only is it small and compact, but it packs quite a bit of power! It's great for low light situations, and the sample pictures are incredible. The reviews I've seen are fantastic. I'm really interested in learning how to take more artistic photographs and how to use manual modes, and this camera will let me do all of that and more. Now to convince the hubs...

Destination Awaits

Nothing super exciting to report today. I spent most of the day working on class work for my Web Design class. Our final project is due soon. Here's a snapshot of the home page. I made a travel site based on a few of my favorite vacation destinations.

It's pretty simple, but I made it from scratch, with of course some help with the tricky parts from my expert husband. :)

Full Day of Class

So today is Cinco de Mayo, but I really didn't have time to celebrate it...Wednesdays are my long class days. First, I have Graphic Arts 101. Our final project for the class is a newsletter that we've been working on all semester. Today, we were able to print our newsletter off of the press downstairs, and they let us keep our printing plates. They're really kind of cool.

Then I had to work on my final project for my Illustrator class. We are taking a photograph of a reflective object and recreating it in Illustrator. He wants it to look exactly the same. I will post it when I'm done. I'm pretty proud of it so far! But, inevitably, I get bored when I'm working on school stuff...

So I entertain myself...

Gorgeous Day

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day. I didn't have class today, so I spent some time enjoying the sun and the beautiful weather with the dogs on the back porch.

Leaves are back on the trees, and the beautiful lavender flowers are blooming in the backyard.
It's so peaceful to sit out and enjoy the breeze rustling through the leaves overhead.

Bear and Sophie seemed to enjoy the sun as well, and even cuddled next to each other.

Bear has always loved the outdoors. He prefers to do a bit more exploring than Sophie, which sometimes manages to get him into trouble.

Especially when he's bored...

But eventually, he wears himself out and enjoys sunbathing with the rest of us...
